The Top Biology Databases:

BioOne 1- Full text of scholarly articles from 86 biology journals with content from 2000 or later to the present
JSTOR- Full text articles from 37 scholarly biology (ecology, botany, evolution) journals from their inception to within the last couple of years
Annual Reviews – full text review articles from 1996 to the present
PubMed – Millions of citations from Medline and life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950’s.  Published by the National Library of Medicine.

Encyclopedia of Life Sciences – online encyclopedia of life, biomedical, cell, and molecular sciences by Nature Publishing
Project Muse – recent issues of several scholarly journals in biology and the history of medicine 
Wilson Select Plus- contains indexing and full text for selected journals from Wilson’s General Science Index

PubMed Central- a digital archive of free life sciences journals published online
Agricola- the National Agricultural Library’s index to agricultural journals and books on plants and crops, animals and livestock, nutrition, natural resources and environment, research and technology
BioMedCentral- another open access initiative containing free peer-reviewed biomedical research articles
Google Scholar- searches the internet for scholarly articles; will link to our JSTOR and other subscribed articles
HighWire Press- Free access to 1.3 million articles in biological and medical science
Science Direct – we do not subscribe to this; however, you can search it as an index to 2,500 science journals and 6,000 books, and then order via Interlibrary Loan if needed
