Laptop Borrowing and Usage
Policies
·
Only TWC
students, faculty, and staff with a current TWC ID card and a clean library
record may check out laptop computers. You must complete a laptop agreement form
at the start of each school year. Your ID will be held while the laptop
is in use.
·
Only one laptop
per person may be checked out at a time.
·
You may not
check out a laptop for anyone else.
·
Laptops check
out for two hours. Late fees of $1.00 per hour are assessed.
·
Laptops
circulate on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not taken.
·
Laptops may be
used in the library only. No computers are available for classroom
checkout.
·
Do not leave a
laptop unattended at any time. You are responsible for the laptop until a
library staff member has checked it in. Report any accident, damage, or harm to
the laptop to a Library staff member at the Circulation Desk.
·
If a laptop is
not returned or is damaged while checked out to you, you will receive a bill for
$1500.00 plus any associated late fees.
·
All work should
be saved to a flash drive. The Library is not responsible for files left on any
library computer or damage to a user's files while using a library computer.
Files saved to a laptop are automatically removed when the laptop is shut down
and cannot be recovered.
·
Library staff
will not provide technical support for computer hardware or network connection
errors.
·
Users agree to
adhere to current TWC computer usage policies.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
is a service provided to obtain items for study at TWC that are not available at
the Merner Pfeiffer Library. TWC students, faculty and staff are eligible to
borrow materials from other libraries.
·
Search
the library’s catalog before placing a request to be sure the material you
want is not already available through the library. Place holds on items we own
that are currently checked out.
·
Submit one
ILL Request Form via the
online catalog for each request. Provide as much accurate information as you
have available – including ISBN/ISSN, ERIC number, or DOI if possible - and type
your complete barcode number. A request submitted with incomplete information
will be returned to you unfilled.
·
The number of
ILL requests may be limited.
·
ILL materials
may arrive in as little as one day, or a week or more.
·
Costs for ILL
are $.10 per page for photocopies. You are responsible for the cost of
all photocopies you order. There is no charge for books, but there may be
exceptions for rare, hard-to-find material. The library will contact you before
requesting any book that will incur a charge.
·
You will be
notified by email when your ILL is ready for pickup or if it cannot be borrowed.
Please make sure your email address is correct in our system by checking at the
circulation desk.
·
The lending
library designates the due date. Return ILL items on time to avoid jeopardizing
future borrowing. Renewals may be possible if you request renewal no later than
the day before the due date. You are limited to one renewal. Students are liable
for overdue fines at the rate of $.25 per day.
