Pre-K Teacher Endorsement Seminar
About the Seminar
For 5 days participants will cycle through sessions which will provide up-to-date early childhood education pedagogy and theory which will assist you in passing the Praxis II test, Education of Young Children (0021). After attending these seminars and passing the Praxis, Tennessee Wesleyan College will make a recommendation on your behalf to the TN Department of Education, Office of Teacher Licensure, for an add-on endorsement in Early Childhood Education PreK-3.
The seminar will take place July 11-15, 2011. Early check-in on Sunday evening will be available for anyone wishing to stay on campus. Sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Eligible Candidates
Candidates must hold a valid and current teaching license with certification in Kindergarten. This includes license numbers: 402 (K-8), 002 (K-3), 499 (K-6), 1-8 (101), 1-9 (001)
After meeting the first criteria of appropriate current certification, candidates will be admitted on the following criteria:
- Teachers currently working in a school-based Pre-K program with either a waiver or alternative license.
- Teachers with an "intent to hire" letter from a school system interested in hiring them if they had appropriate endorsement.
- Teachers in a three-star or NAEYC accredited non-public school based Pre-K program.
- Teachers needing 45 credit hours for license renewal.
- Teachers currently teaching in a K-6 classroom.
Costs
Registration for this seminar is:
$500 (non-refundable) for training and meals (breakfast, lunch, snack)
$700 (non-refundable) for training, meals (breakfast, lunch, snack), and private campus lodging
You will be responsible for travel and other meals. You must register for the Praxis II #0021 by June 23, 2011. The cost for this test is $80 and the registration fee is $50 for a total of $130. The actual test date for the #0021 Praxis II is on July 23, 2011. You may register for a later test, but it will delay your licensing process.
