Nelson Joins TWC
TWC Alum Randy Nelson has been appointed Chief Advancement Officer
Tennessee Wesleyan College is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Nelson as chief advancement officer. Nelson brings an impressive professional background to the College with experience in fundraising and non-profit leadership.
Nelson's responsibilities will be to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan and assist TWC President Harley Knowles with the identification and achievement of development initiatives.
"Randy will be a great asset to our institution and the surrounding community," said Dr. Knowles. "He is a TWC alumnus and has a passion for the College. He will be a great ambassador as the College continues its tradition of academic excellence in the Appalachian region and beyond."
Nelson served as Director of Major Gifts and Vice President for Advancement at Hiwassee College for six years before becoming the Director of Ministry Advancement at Doe River Gorge Ministries, a high-adventure camp for children and youth in the Tri-Cities region in upper East Tennessee.
"We are excited to be returning home," said Nelson. "While a student at Tennessee Wesleyan, I received an excellent education from people who really cared about my passions, interests and goals. They believed in the future I saw for myself."
That future included marriage to Stephanie (Schweizer) Nelson, class of 1994. They recently celebrated 18 years of marriage and have five children: Jonah (16), Micah (15), Samuel (12), Seth (10) and Lydia (7).
"I look forward to working with Dr. Knowles and the Board of Trustees as we strive to fulfill the mission and vision of Tennessee Wesleyan," said Nelson. "As we work together in partnership with our alumni, donors and community, we will continue to impact the lives of those we serve with the same transformational love of God and unswerving commitment to their success that I experienced as a student here."
