Huskey honored with 2014 Exemplary Teacher Award
The United Methodist Church has awarded the 2014 Exemplary Teacher Award to Tennessee Wesleyan College's Stephanie Huskey.
The United Methodist Church has awarded the 2014 Exemplary Teacher Award to Tennessee Wesleyan College’s Stephanie Huskey, a TWC assistant professor of exercise & sport sciences. Sponsored by the Division of Higher Education of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, the award recognizes Huskey for her contribution to her students and the TWC academic community.
“Receiving this award is astounding,” said Huskey. “I am rewarded each day just by being a part of this campus.”
Along with the certificate, Huskey will also receive a $500 check from the United Methodist Church, who awards the Exemplary Teacher Award annually to an individual that symbolizes the vital impact of pedagogy in the formation of leadership for the next generation.
“Stephanie Huskey is an exemplary educator who models all of the qualities of effective and compassionate servant leadership,” said Dr. Suzanne Hine, TWC vice president for academic affairs.
A 2000 graduate from Tennessee Wesleyan, Huskey credits her time as a TWC student as what started her on her path to being an educator.
“When I was a student at TWC, I began to really understand who I was and what I believed,” said Huskey. “So many of those realizations happened because of the professors who challenged me to expand and develop my worldviews.
“That I have the opportunity to make a similar difference in the lives of students, work as a colleague with many of my former professors, and serve in the campus community is an honor. I am thankful to be a part of the TWC family and to be recognized with such a prestigious award.”
