TWC offers summer classes, free housing

Posted on: March 13, 2014

TWC is offering more then 60 classes this summer.

While most colleges and universities provide summer classes for their students, Tennessee Wesleyan College is offering more than just a science lab and a composition class. With more than 60 classes being taught in the classroom and online, TWC is offering summer programs to serve not only its own students but also students from other institutions who are interested in taking discounted summer courses to catch up or get ahead in their degree.

TWC’s summer term offers all students the opportunity to take discounted courses for $210 per credit hour with added bonuses such as accelerated course paces and free housing for students taking at least nine hours. Start dates for each of TWC’s mini-terms are May 5, June 2 and June 30, with the full summer session beginning May 5.

“Summer school at TWC offers our current students and students from our sister institutions the opportunity to get additional courses completed in a vibrant, yet relaxed atmosphere,” said Dr. Suzanne Hine, TWC vice president of academic affairs.

“Students may choose to complete courses in May, June, July or all three. The added benefit for students is free housing on campus once they have enrolled in nine or more credit hours. I know of no other place where students can have that added incentive.  At TWC, we want to serve all students in our region during the summer and provide free housing for those who want it.”

TWC’s summer term also offers current high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get an early start in their college careers. In addition to the many traditional lecture courses that will be offered during TWC’s summer term, the college will also be offering online courses throughout the summer.

“Multiple start dates for TWC’s summer classes allow current students and visiting students the opportunity to progress toward graduation while also scheduling their summer course loads around planned activities and trips,” said Jessica Edwards, TWC director of undergraduate admissions.

Students taking nine credit hours throughout the summer will be eligible for free campus housing in Wesley Commons. TWC students currently have access to registration for the summer term. Non-TWC students interested in taking TWC summer classes can begin registering April 1.
