TWC has awarded scholarships to several students in the college's Business Administration Department's Management Excellence program.

Tennessee Wesleyan College has awarded scholarships to several students in the college’s Business Administration Department’s Management Excellence program. Sally Landon, Dana Hammontree, Charity King, Marc Daniels, Christy Hughes, Samantha Bild, Katelyn Hodges, and Stephanie Malone were each awarded $1,000 from the proceeds of the Merck Neighbor of Choice Program.
The Merck Neighbor of Choice Program is coordinated through the Merck Foundation and its Office of Corporate Philanthropy.  The mission of the Neighbor of Choice Program is to strengthen the relationship between Merck and its local communities by supporting outstanding work by non-profit organizations that strive to improve the quality of life of people in communities in which Merck resides and operates.
“It was very exciting to participate in the review process for these scholarship applications,” said Stacy Swafford, TWC instructor of business administration. “Scholarships like these give more adults in our community a chance at a college education. We are truly thankful to the Merck Foundation for making these scholarships possible.”
Tennessee Wesleyan College was awarded $20,000 from Merck, which has been allocated for two purposes. A set of ten laptops worth $5,000 was purchased and outfitted with software for use by qualified Management Excellence students. The remaining $15,000 will be awarded as scholarships to students in the program.
The Management Excellence program at Tennessee Wesleyan College is designed specifically for non-traditional students who desire to complete their Bachelor of Science degree.
“I am so grateful for the scholarship provided through TWC and Merck,” said Christy Hughes, a Cleveland ME student. “This scholarship means so much to me and helps take some of the financial burden of my education off my shoulders, which will allow me to focus on my studies.”
