A group of Tennessee Wesleyan College business students were inspired and encouraged by a guest speaker who shared with the students the importance of internships and where internship opportunities are available.

Why businesses like to hire interns, the best places to find internships, and why internships are an important step to securing permanent employment after college was the topic of the guest lecture by Michael S. Parton, managing partner at Coulter and Justus, PC in Knoxville, Tenn.

“We truly appreciate Mr. Parton sharing real-world experience with our students,” said Tony Bryant, TWC assistant professor of business administration. “His expertise will no doubt help them as they move forward into the workforce.”

Parton is a member of TWC’s Business Advisory Council, a council that was formed earlier this year with the mission of serving as a communication link between TWC and the local business community.

“Mr. Parton was very gracious to offer us his time,” said Stacy Swafford, a TWC instructor of business administration. “He shared with the students that many people had helped him during his career and he appreciated having the opportunity to give back by speaking with the students.”
