Tennessee Wesleyan College's Dr. Chris Dover has been awarded the 2013 Exemplary Teacher Award by the United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
Tennessee Wesleyan College’s Dr. Chris Dover has been awarded the 2013 Exemplary Teacher Award by the United Methodist Church General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Dr. Dover was honored with the Exemplary Teacher Award because of his exemplary teaching, service to students beyond the classroom, and commitment to a values-centered education.
“I am so honored to receive this award unexpectedly,” said Dr. Dover, TWC chaplain and instructor of religion. “I feel that it is a tribute to the students and faculty here.”
In addition to Dr. Dover’s chaplain and teaching duties at the college, he regularly plans mission trips for Tennessee Wesleyan students. The most recent mission trip took place this past spring when he and two other TWC faculty and staff members took six Wesleyan students to Costa Rica, where the students provided volunteer service throughout their six-day stay.
Dr. Dover, who has served at Tennessee Wesleyan for six years, is among approximately 10 honorees chosen from the more than 100 United Methodist colleges or universities.
