Now through March 31, 2013, any donation to the Tennessee Wesleyan general scholarship fund will be doubled up to an overall amount of $100,000 thanks to an anonymous alumni donor.

“We are so touched by an anonymous donor so willingly and generously donating a matching gift to the college,” said Randy Nelson, TWC chief advancement officer. “To make a gift like this and receive no recognition, it is truly humbling. It is a blessing that Tennessee Wesleyan has such generous alumni who care about the college and its students.”

TWC’s general scholarship fund provides funding for incoming students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership and abilities or a financial need. More than 90 percent of TWC students receive some form of aid, including work study programs and a large variety of scholarships.

“The college is extremely grateful for this donation,” said Jessica Edwards, TWC director of alumni relations and annual fund. “A matching gift is a great way to encourage others to give back to their alma mater. I hope that others will follow this example of generosity and give what they are able.”

Donations like this matching gift are vital to Tennessee Wesleyan’s continued success as a comprehensive college and a leader in higher education in southeast Tennessee.

“A gift like this is a catalyst that motivates others to show support for Tennessee Wesleyan,” said Dr. Harley Knowles, TWC president. “I am always so impressed with the immense support our alumni continue to show their alma mater. By supporting deserving students with scholarship donations, our donors can help TWC students achieve their goals and realize their full potential.”
