F 101 Elementary French I (3 credit hours)
This class serves as an introduction to basic French. It offers the students a glimpse into French/Francophone culture and it's source of communication. The focus of this class is on pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary using oral and written exercises, conversation, easy reading material, and listening exercises. Students are also exposed to cultural aspects of French speaking countries as well as being expected to do research to present to the class on various aspects of French/Francophone culture, history, cuisine, art, music, literature and movies. In-class activities and games incorporate interaction between students. Interviews with native speakers are also included.

F 102 Elementary French II (3 credit hours)
This second semester of elementary French incorporates an exploration of French and Francophone culture and its source of communication with an on-going study of the mechanics of the language. Students build on what they learned in first semester while continuing to shape their verbal skills both in class and by performing out-of-class interviews with native speakers.
Prerequisite: F 101 (students can also test into this class)

F 201 Intermediate French I (3 credit hours)
This second year class provides a systematic review of grammar and an on-going study of the language and culture of French speaking countries. Students continue sharpening their verbal skills by participating in exchanges both within the classroom as well as in the community. In addition to verbal interviews this class also implements listening activities, audio-visual exercises, research, writing and reading activities. Students also seek out/research current cultural, political and social aspects in French speaking countries to bring to class and share with other students.

French 202 Intermediate French II (3 credit hours)
This class offers students opportunities to put into practice all they have learned in previous semesters. They continue honing their verbal skills while reviewing and building on the grammar and vocabulary of earlier classes. This class also delves deeper into cultural, historical and political aspects of France and French speaking countries. Students in this class typically produce a class project. This project is presented to the campus community and where appropriate to the community at large.

F 301 Advanced French Readings (3 credit hours)
This advanced level offering of required course work for a minor in French. It is designed to increase the students' knowledge of French and Francophone literature as well as give students tools and a context in which to improve his/her written and verbal communication skills. This class uses the readings and associated verbal and written activities to aid students in building vocabulary and enhancing their command of the language. This class is offered on demand.
Prerequisite: Completion of first and second year French.

F 302 Advanced French Grammar and Composition (3 credit hours)
This advanced level class is intended for students who want to further their command of the French language. This class is designed to increase the student's knowledge of French grammar. The selected readings and activities that focus on composition offer students opportunities to reinforce and review the mechanics of the language with the goal of preparing them to better express their ideas both verbally and in writing. It also serves as required course work for a minor in Spanish.
Prerequisite: F 301
