At Jack Bowling field, the
third annual Blue & Gold World Series took place, with the
Blue Team winning Game 1, 5 - 4. For the Gold team, Rob
Sherwood had a solid performance on the mound striking out six
batters, walking one, and giving up one unearned run on one
hit in 5 innings. Kris Jiggitts, for the Blue Team, pitched
just as well giving up one earned run on three hits in 4 2/3
innings while striking out seven. The Blue Team got on the
board first in the top of the fourth with Vladimir Frias
scoring a run. In the bottom of the fourth, the Gold team
would strike back with two runs on an Alan Wimmer two run
homerun. Matt Gray would add a solo home run in the sixth, for
the Blue Team, to tie the score at 2 – 2. Zac Bowman would hit
a two out, two run single in the bottom of the sixth, to put
the Gold Team in the lead 4 - 2. The Blue Team would answer
back in the top of the seventh with three runs to take the
lead, making the score 5 - 4. The Blue Team’s bullpen would
hold the lead and seal the victory for the Blue Team.

With the Gold Team facing elimination in Game two, Frank
Dougherty pitched the Gold Team to victory. Frank had a solid
outing holding the Blue Team to one earned run on three hits
in 5 innings pitched. For the Blue Team, Jeff Woods had a good
outing only giving up one earned run in 3 2/3 innings pitched.
Striking first, the Gold team scored a run in the top of the
second by an Alan Wimmer RBI double. The Blue Team answered
back to tie the score with an RBI single by Matt Stanley in
the bottom of the third, making the score 1 - 1. The Gold Team
would take the lead with an RBI single by Wes Hazard in the
top of the fourth, making the score 2 - 1. Robby Hearn would
add an insurance run with a solo homerun in the top of the
sixth for the Gold Team to make the score 3 - 1. In the bottom
of the sixth, the Blue Team would get within one run, 3 - 2, on
a RBI single by Morgan Gibson. The Gold Team would hold on for
the win, tying the
series at one game a piece and forcing a game three.

With the series tied at one game a piece, and the
Championship on the line, the Blue and Gold Team go to battle.
Jeremy Beeching would throw four quality innings giving up no
runs. The Gold Team would put the first runs on the board in
the bottom of the first on a Robby Hearn two run homerun, 2 -
0. In the bottom of the third inning, the Gold Team would add
to their lead with solo homerun by Hearn, and a RBI double by
Alan Wimmer, making the score 4 - 0. The Blue team would fight
back to make the score 4 - 2 in the top of the fifth with a
RBI single by Matt Gray. The Gold Team bullpen would hold the
lead as Rob Sherwood would come in the seventh to slam the
door for the victory and Championship for the Gold Team.
