Assistant Coach
Coach Moody begins his first season with Tennessee Wesleyan.
Although this is his first year as a coach, Moody is a veteran
to the Bulldog baseball program. He was a four-year pitcher,
finishing at the pinnacle of his career with a 6-1 record and
a 1.55 ERA as a senior.
Offering a wealth of knowledge and proven experience, he will
work with the pitching staff. Moody has been noted as
possessing one of the best work ethics of any Bulldog to play
at TWC and works diligently to improve himself as a coach.

As an employee of Tennessee Wesleyan College I serve as the
Executive Assistant to the Athletic Director. I began working at
Tennessee Wesleyan College in August 2000. I am a native
Athenian and attend Trinity United Methodist Church. I am
married to Jeff Elrod and have two children Brian and Blake. I
have not had previous cheerleading experience; however, I am
honored to be working with the TWC cheerleaders as a
co-sponsor. I am excited about the upcoming year and being
able to work with two other co-sponsors and a great group of
student athletes. Our cheerleaders excel in the classroom and
also in campus life. We expect our cheerleaders to work hard
and represent Tennessee Wesleyan College with pride. GO
Bulldogs!!!

Head Coach
Ray Stone is
entering his fourth season as cross country head coach and
assistant men's basketball at
Tennessee
Wesleyan
College.
A 2000 graduate of TWC, Stone played two years at Wesleyan
after transferring from Motlow State Community College. After
completing his two years at TWC, Coach Stone stayed on as an
Admissions Counselor for three years. After pursuing another
career of a year, Coach Stone came back to TWC with his hard
work ethics and winning attitude. Coach Stone also has a
son Ray Stone, III.

Head Coach
Coach Mike Poe returns to his
alma mater after 23 years in the high school ranks. He is a
1980 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College. He most recently
was the Head Basketball Coach at Science Hill High School in
Johnson City, Tennessee. His career record is 347-203.
STAN HARRISON
Women's Head Coach
Stan Harrison has been at Tennessee Wesleyan since 1982
and was the women's basketball coach until 2006 and served as Director of
Athletics from 1996-2007. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice
President for Enrollment and oversees Athletics, Enrollment
and Financial Aid. Prior to coaching women's golf, Coach Harrison's
Women's Basketball teams amassed over
500 wins, nine conference championships and have made six NAIA
National Tournament.
His teams have included several NAIA All-American and NAIA
All-American Scholar-Athletes, In his 20 years at Tennessee
Wesleyan College, Coach Harrison has a 100% graduation rate
among those student-athletes who have completed their
eligibility. Many of his former players are now successful
physicians, teachers, bankers, accountants and coaches.
Coach Harrison's wife, Debbie, is a principal in the Athens
City School system. They have two children. Their son Chris,
is a TWC alumnus who lives in the Nashville area with his wife
Jodi, who is also an alum, and their son, Jacob. Their
daughter Jennifer was a member of the TWC class of 2001 and
resides in Athens.

NATHAN YOUNG
Head Coach
A
2004 graduate of Pfeiffer University, Young has spent the last
two seasons as a graduate assistant for Franklin Pierce
College. The first season he was the offensive
coordinator/recruiting coordinator then changed to the other
end of the field as the defensive coordinator/recruiting
coordinator last year before accepting the head coaching role
at TWC in March.
During his tenure as an assistant, in 2006 Young orchestrated
Franklin Pierce’s offense by doubling their average goals per
game scored, tripling total season goals, and also increasing
the Ravens face off percentage to 47% from 2005.
In his previous role head coach of his alma mater, Lyman High
School, Coach Young became the second-winningest coach with a
win percentage of .521. During his duration there he started
the first ever junior varsity program and sent three players
on to continue playing at the Division II level.
Since 2000, he has worked at various summer lacrosse camps,
including Jim Fritz Lacrosse Camp, Top 205, Florida Lacrosse
Camps, Bill Pilat’s Lacrosse Camp, and Old North State just to
name a few.
Coach Young, a native of Casselberry, Florida, currently
resides in Athens, TN. And will receive his MBA from Franklin
Pierce College in May.

ANGELA TOMCHIK
Women's Assistant Coach
Angela Tomchik comes to Tennessee Wesleyan College in her
first season as the women's lacrosse assistant coach.
Previously, she coached lacrosse at American International
College for two years. Angela also served as an assistant
women's soccer coach for the Yellow Jackets last fall.
A graduate of Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina,
Angela was a four-year starter for the Saints' women's
lacrosse team. In 2004 she helped her team to make it to the
NCAA division two National Tournament. Angela spent an
additional year as a student assistant coach. She graduated
with a degree in criminal justice from Limestone.

Coach Gilpin
is beginning her second season as Assistant Volleyball Coach.
Gilpin played both volleyball and softball at TWC (’05) and
joined the staff after completing her degree in Exercise
Science. Coach Gilpin also serves as Assistant Softball Coach.
Women's Basketball
JEFF RICE
Head Coach
Coach Jeff Rice enters his 2nd season as the head coach of the
Women’s Basketball program. In his first year, the Lady
Bulldogs went 23-9 and finished second in the regular season
before being upset in the semi-finals by six seed Union
College, which went on to claim the tournament crown. Prior to
being named head coach, Coach Rice served as an assistant to
Coach Harrison for 16 seasons. During that time, the program
won over 325 games, won six conference championships, and
participated in six NAIA national tournaments.
This season also brings to an end his duties as head softball
coach. During his twelve years as head softball coach, he
guided the program to 6 conference championships and 9 region
appearances. His career softball record was 350-234. Coach
Rice was named conference coach of the year 3 times.
Coach Rice’s teams have been very successful on the field and
in the classroom. Fifty-three players have been selected first
team All-Conference, including six conference players of the
year. Also, twenty-five players have been selected All-Region.
Thirteen players have been named as NAIA Academic
All-Americans. Every one of his former players who have
finished their playing eligibility has either graduated or is
currently working toward a degree.
Coach Rice came to Tennessee Wesleyan in the fall of 1989 to
work under Coach Harrison and to participate in baseball. “I
figured out very early that the majors weren’t in my future
plans and that I should work at something that I was going to
do for the rest of my life.”
Coach Rice is originally from Jonesborough, TN and a 1989
graduate of David Crockett High School, where he played for
current TWC Men’s basketball coach Mike Poe. He is 1994
graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan. Jeff is married to the former
Tiffany Jones. He has two step-children, Gage 6 and Sydnee 4.
They reside in Athens.
Women's Soccer
Naomi Clarke
Head Coach
Naomi Clarke enters her second year as head coach of the
Tennessee Wesleyan women's soccer program. Last year Clarke
guided the team to a 8-7-1 season and a berth in the AAC
conference quarterfinals. Clarke, originally from New Zealand,
came to Tennessee Wesleyan following a two year stint as
assistant women's coach at the University of North Alabama
where she also completed a Master's degree in Health Promotion
and Human Performance. Prior to coaching college soccer,
Clarke played at the NCAA Division II level at Lock Haven
University of PA (2000-2002), and the Metropolitan State
College of Denver 2003-2004) where she graduated with a
Bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Sport emphasizing
Teaching K-12 Physical Education. During her playing career
Clarke earned the honor of being named an All-American
selection all four years of her college career (2000-2003).
Clarke also has national team caps under her belt with
representation on the New Zealand Senior Women's National
Team. Clarke has recently co-founded and is the Director of
Coaching at local soccer club McMinn United FC and has also
previously coached for elite clubs out of the Nashville, TN
and Denver, CO areas. Clarke is also a soccer camp veteran
coach having coached and directed with Joe Machnik's No.1
Soccer Camps since 2002 and Coerver Coaching since 2005.
Clarke holds her USSF National 'C' Coaching License.
