Win
Tennessee Wesleyan College
Men’s golf team won the Region XII golf championship this week. TWC won with a 3
day total of 912. Twenty seven shots ahead of Covenant College. Freshman Tyler
Smith won the individual title with scores of 74-71-73. Tyler was named Region
XII player of the year. AAC Player of the year, freshman Casey Flenniken
finished second individually, with scores of 74-75-72. Coach Mike Poe was named
AAC and Region XII Coach of the Year. The men head to the NAIA National
Tournament for the first time in school history May 13-16 in South Bend Indiana.

(02/23/08) Dogs Sweep on
Senior Day
TWC won key conference matchups on
Saturaday, and sent eight seniors to conference play victorious.
The women's game was back and forth the entire game. TWC
held a five-point advantage at intermission but never could widen
the gap. With 19.8 seconds, TWC held a one point advantage.
Covenant drove the length of the floor and scored, putting TWC
down by one. With 7.7 seconds remaining, TWC had 94 feet
between them and a victory. Senior Jennifer Patterson nailed
a 13-foot jumper as time expired to give the Lady Dogs the win.
The men's game was never as close, leading by 13 at intermission
and winning by 21, 94-73. Zach Gulmire led the Dogs with 26
points in his and three other seniors final appearance in James
L. Robb Gymnasium.

(02/16/08) Dogs sweep
Montreat
Jennifer Patterson and Rachel
Sitzlar each scored 14 in the 71-62 win. The score was
knotted at 28 as the first half ended. TWC shot 54% in the
second half. In the men's game, rebounding proved to be the
difference as TWC out rebounded Montreat 38-23, and shot 54%.
Tyler Gaskin led all scorers with 23 points.

(02/12/08) TWC tames Lions
TWC Men and Women won over Bryan.
The Women won 71-66 led by Rachel Sitzlar and Lindsey Jackson with
14 points each. The Men ended a 7-game losing streak with
the 54-43 victory. Matt Towry pulled in 12-boards and scored
11 to lead the Bulldogs in both categories.

(02/12/08) Lees-McRae tops
Bulldogs Lacrosse
The Lees-McRae won their first game
of the season as host TWC fell 17-4. TWC lost to Georgia
State's club team on the inaugural game 20-7. The Bulldogs
played an exhibition game with MTSU's club
team and were victorious in the fall.

The Women lost 84-74. Five
players hit double-figures, led by Jennifer Patterson and Leanne
Pelham
with 18 each. The men fell by 11. Tyler
Gaskin led the Dogs with 21 points.

TWC Splits at Bluefield
The Lady Dogs took advantage of
Bluefield's poor shooting in the second half to win 75-67
after being knotted at 40 at the half. Rachel Sitzlar
and Jennifer combined for 32 points. The Men's team
trailed by four at intermission, but slipped further in the
second half to trail by 14 at the final buzzer. Willie
Maclin and Matt Towery each had 11 points.

Basketball Game Day Change
The Men’s and Women’s Basketball game scheduled for
Tuesday Feb 19 with Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA,
has been changed to Wednesday Feb 20. The game times for the
event will be at 5:30 and 7:30.

Tornados
spin Bulldogs
The TWC Women held a 4-point
advantage at the half, but King regrouped to take a 4-point
win 80-76. Rachel Sitzlar earned a double-double with 14
points and 10 rebounds. In the Men's game, the two teams were knotted at half-time, but
King pulled away in the 2nd half to win by four. Tyler
Gaskin led the Dogs with 14 points.

Men fall to
Maryville in non-conference game
TWC stepped out of conference
play to host Maryville College. TWC fell behind 49-24 at
the break and never could catch up as Maryville went on to win
81-62. Tyler Gaskin led all with 27 points and 8
'boards.

Dogs lose
two to Milligan
The Milligan Buffaloes traveled
to Athens and left with two victories. The Lady Dogs
held a 4-point advantage at the half but Milligan shot 50% in
the second half, outscoring TWC by 14 for a 10 point victory.
Lindsey Jackson led TWC with 16 points. The men were
down 41-29 at the break and fought back in the second half,
but still lost by three. Tyler Gaskin led all scorers
with 35.

Lacrosse signs three future Lady Dogs
Morgan Gill of Powder Springs,
GA, Tess Sasse from Bloomington, MN, and Emily Clevenger have
committed to continue their Lacrosse careers at Tennessee
Wesleyan (more).

(01/19/08) TWC Sweeps
Cobras
TWC climbs a little higher on
the Conference ladder after key conference wins over the
visiting VA Intermont Cobras. The women are riding a
5-game win streak improving to 5-3 in conference play.
Jennifer Patterson and Rachel Sitzlar led the Lady Dogs with
12 points each. Ashley Mowery and Suzanne Morris had 10
each. The men also improved to 5-3 in conference play.
Willie Maclin scored 24 points and pulled in 8 boards to lead
the Dogs in both categories. Tyler Gaskin scored 18.

TWC tops
Temple Thursday
The Men and Women continued
their winning streaks. The Women doubled Temple at the
half, 50-25 and cruised to a 93-77 win. Suzanne Morris
came off the bench to score 18 points and pull in 11 boards in
just under 16-minutes of play. Freshman Leah Frazier
scored 16 and Rachel Sitzlar 15. The men were up by 13
at intermission and went on to win 97-75. Seven Bulldogs
scored, and each reached double-digits in the points column.
TWC shot 56 percent from behind the arc. The men and
women are both 7-11, 4-3 (AAC). The women are on a four
game winning streak.

Women get victories over Cavs
The Lady Dogs won their first
game in 2008 over the visiting Cavaliers from UVa-Wise 83-56.
Lindsey Jackson led all scorers with 15, shooting 7 of 8 from
2-point range. Jennifer Patterson had 13 and Leah
Frazier tallied 11. The men came back in the second half
to win 91-82 after trailing by one at intermission.
Tyler Gaskin led all scorers with 25, followed by Wes Suiter
with 17.

Dogs come up
short at Univ. of Cumberlands
TWC was defeated 81-47 against
the University of the Cumberlands. Tyler Gaskin
continued a strong senior season with 17 points. Gaskin
is averaging over 14 points, four rebounds and one block per
game.

Dogs
split Embry Riddle Tourney
TWC traveled to Daytona Beach
for a New Years Tournament at Embry Riddle College's Daytona
campus. TWC lost to Malone College 57-55. Tyler
Gaskin led the Dogs with 17 points and 8 rebounds. TWC
defeated Philadelphia Biblical the following day 74-53.
10 Bulldogs scored, led by the Wes' - Suiter with 16 and Adams
with 11. The Bulldogs are 4-9, 2-2 on the season and
visit the University of the Cumberlands on Jan. 5 for a 2pm
tip-off.
