Special Education Summer Academy

Completion in one summer

This academy is for licensed teachers seeking an add-on endorsement in Special Education with an emphasis on Mild to Moderate Disabilities for Grades K-12.

This endorsement prepares the future teacher candidate for working in an inclusive setting in the regular education classroom, a resource classroom, or a self-contained classroom. Emphasis is placed on the legal issues of Special Education, assessment, collaboration, characteristics of qualifying disabilities, behavior management, and the adaptive environment. The coursework does not meet graduate-level requirements, but may be used for license renewal credit.
