Sociology
Sociology is the study of human groups and their interaction with the social world. It is also the study of people as social beings and the social forces that shape human behavior.
The Sociology major is intended for students who wish to examine and understand the power of society to shape behavior and worldviews. The Sociology major provides an excellent foundation for students to work in a variety of occupations and for students who wish to pursue graduate studies.
B.S. in Sociology
A major in Sociology leading to the B. S. degree requires 36 hours, distributed as follows:
SO 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 s.h.
PY 101 Introduction to Psychology 3 s.h.
SO 204 Social Problems 3 s.h.
CJ 211 Introduction to Criminal Justice 3 s.h.
HS 231 Introduction to Human Services 3 s.h.
SO 270 Social Research Methods 3 s.h.
