Brian Miracle
Major: Sports Management
Since 2007
Background: Native of LaFollette, Tenn.; served as a leader for the following student organizations - Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) and Hackberry & Oak Society; member of the Bulldog Baseball team.
Fun Fact: Brian has traveled to several countries to minister to others and founded a ministry called "Impact Baseball & Softball Ministries" that collects new and used baseball and softball equipment, and finds places to distribute it along with sharing the Gospel with the players.
I chose to attend Tennessee Wesleyan because it was a small school with a great baseball program and it knew it was the right fit for me. And once I began attending classes, I found opportunities to become more involved and worked with others to bring back FCA to our campus.
FCA has been a very important part of my life while at TWC; my involvement really started just to bring the FCA back to TWC, but has slowly grown into what I want to do with my life. Several doors have been opened through FCA. One example is the work that I have done in now nine different countries.
In the summer of 2009 I was picked to be part of the first FCA Impact International Internship in Bobbio Pellice, Italy. The training include bible in sport and how to relate the bible and faith to sports, cultural training, gospel training, and partnerships. We were also taken out into the field to put these traits to work with several camps in Italy, The Ukraine, and Hungary. The internship itself is the big moment in my life where a lot of doors were opened and my life was changed! And last year while in Europe for 2 months I had an opportunity to start a ministry called Impact Baseball & Softball Ministries, where we collect new and used baseball and softball equipment and find places to distribute it along with sharing the Gospel with the players. So far we have reached the Dominican Republic, Italy, and Hungary. I’m really excited to see where God is leading me. The doors are open; I just have to prayerfully consider which one to go in to.
If I had not attended TWC many of these opportunities would have never been available to me. I was involved in FCA in high school but never at the level that I have been here at TWC. God really knows how to put us in the right places at the right time.
TWC has also allowed me to participate in two mission trips. In 2008 I went to Costa Rica, and then in March 2010 we went to the Dominican Republic.
While in Costa Rica we worked with the missionaries there to help rebuild a camp there for the local church, kind of like Lookout Mountain camp of the Holston Conference. While in the Dominican Republic we worked the the missionaries there to help build a church. We were one of the first teams there so it was in the early works with just cleaning out the lot and working on a fence to be built up around the lot. While in the Dominican Republic we also worked two days with one of the local baseball teams as outreach with Impact Baseball & Softball Ministries.
TWC has given so much and opened so many doors in my life, ones that will change my life and how it is lived. I hope current and futures students take advantage of the opportunities available to them here at TWC. God has called us to be a proactive people, Joshua 1:9 is a perfect example! Check it out!
