Step
2: Transcript Evaluation Process
Upon
receipt of application and college transcripts, the Registrar’s Office will
evaluate coursework to determine transferable credits. Students will
receive a copy of the evaluations.
Transfer credit will be
granted for course work applicable to a Tennessee Wesleyan College baccalaureate
degree taken at institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools (SACS) or similar regional accrediting associations. Grades earned
at other institutions are used only for admission, course placement, and other
academic decisions.
Course work taken at
institutions accredited by organizations other than regional associations will
be reviewed on an individual basis for possible transfer credit. Tennessee
Wesleyan College accepts the recommendations contained in the current issue of
Report of Credit Given by Educational Institutions, a publication of the
American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
Students who transfer from
2-year accredited institutions will be granted credit up to 64 semester hours. A
maximum of 96 semester hours may be transferred from all institutions. The last
32 hours of course work must be taken at Tennessee Wesleyan College.
Tennessee Wesleyan College
has articulation agreements, which can be downloaded and printed, from the
following Junior Colleges:
Tennessee
Wesleyan College also accepts Advanced Placement credit when an official score
report is received. The following minimum scores are needed:

Step 3: Scholarships and
Financial Aid
Transfer students who qualify will be sent a
scholarship offer which is to be signed and returned by the deadline specified
on the award. Please note that academic and athletic awards cannot be
combined. This information will be sent to the Financial Aid Office and combined
with any other qualifying grants, scholarships, or loans; these amounts are only
available to Tennessee Wesleyan College after the FAFSA has been completed.
Students will then receive an award letter from Financial Aid detailing any and
all awards and loans.
Students should complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
before March 1 to ensure qualification for any available state grants.
Students are required to complete the FAFSA in order to receive a Financial Aid
package. Tennessee Wesleyan’s school code for the FAFSA is 003525.
The Financial Aid Office provides assistance in completing the FAFSA for
students who would like to schedule an appointment. Please visit
The Financial Aid Website to view additional
financial aid information.
Step 4: Acceptance and
Final Documents
After the Registrar’s
Office completes an official evaluation of all college transcripts and all
application documents have been received, students who have a 2.0 or higher
college GPA will be notified of acceptance to Tennessee Wesleyan College.
Upon acceptance, the following documents should be submitted (letters and forms
will be mailed to the accepted student):
*$300 for resident students which includes a
$100 room deposit.
Step 5: Advising
After acceptance, transfer
students will meet with an advisor and register for classes during an
appropriate registration time.
All students must complete
Tennessee Wesleyan College’s All College Requirements (ACR). Associate degree
holders will have to make up any deficiencies between their college’s general
education core and the general education core of Tennessee Wesleyan College.
Students who hold A.A. or A.S. degrees from institutions located in non-English
speaking countries must demonstrate a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based),
213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based) in order to gain admission to the
College.
Advising Checklists for each major can be accessed for transfer students’
personal, unofficial planning purposes. Advisors will use these same
checklists for official advising purposes.
