Tennessee Wesleyan College:
Frequently Asked QuestionsHow
is my financial need determined?
The U.S. Department of Education uses a formula from your Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
All schools you list on the FAFSA will be sent your EFC. The EFC is the amount
of money the Department of Education determines you can afford to pay for your
student to go to college for one year.
Once the college has your EFC, then we can determine your need. Need is
determined by taking the cost of attendance and subtracting it from your EFC.
This number tells us how much aid we can offer you.

What can I do if the FAFSA does not reflect my current financial situation?
Contact our office if the FAFSA does not reflect your current financial
situation or if your financial situation changes during the academic year.
Additional documentation may be required from you, and then we can review your
FAFSA and see if we can make any adjustments to it which may allow for
additional funding.
Do my parents or I have to complete my federal tax returns before filing the
FAFSA?
The FAFSA allows for estimates for income and tax information if you have not
yet completed your federal tax returns. We recommend that you estimate if you
will not meet our priority deadline. We recommend that you file your FAFSA by
February 15 in order to meet our April 1 priority deadline. Please keep in mind
that once you do file your taxes that you must correct the FAFSA because you are
required by law to report your most accurate financial situation.
