Tennessee Wesleyan College
Administration The
administration of the College is divided into six main sections, each
responsible for specific areas of activity. Each Vice President or designee of
the section reports directly to the Office of the President and serves on the
senior staff.
President
The President, working in close cooperation with the Vice President for Academic
Affairs, the Vice President of Financial and Business Affairs, the Vice
President for Administration, the Vice President for Student Life, the Vice
President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Alumni Relations, and the
Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, provides leadership and
administrative service to all areas of campus life. Advancing the image of the
College through community involvement and fundraising activities, the President
is the principal spokesperson to the Board of Trustees and works closely with
the Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee to manage the College and
fulfill its mission, holds responsibility for issues of accreditation (with
particular reference to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), and
serves as the principal liaison to the Holston Conference, the Tennessee
Independent College and Universities Association, and the community at large.
Academics
Reporting to and advising the President in
regard to faculty and curricular concerns, the Vice President for Academic
Affairs, Dr. Suzanne Hine, holds specific responsibility for supervising the
College’s academic program, managing its day-to-day functioning, and inspiring
the faculty to self governance and to excellence in its standards, as well as to
pedagogical and curricular innovation. Moreover, the Vice President for Academic
Affairs represents the academic program and faculty in his or her work with
internal and external constituencies. This division also includes the Chaplain,
Merner-Pfeiffer Library, the Office of the Registrar and Campus Information
technology
Student Life
The Vice President for Student Life, Dr. Scott Mashburn, holds responsibility
for co-curricular activities of the campus; holds management responsibility for
career services; oversees the administration of the residence halls; and
provides leadership for the effective administration of the Student Government
Association, fraternity and sorority organizations, and all other campus
co-curricular organizations. It is the responsibility of the Vice President for
Student Life to maintain a close working relationship with the entire student
body, to keep the President informed of student concerns, and to serve as an
advocate for students in all matters related to the administration. The Vice
President for Student Life also serves as the liaison for contracted services in
food service, security, and the bookstore.
Enrollment Management
The Vice President for Enrollment Management, Stan Harrison, holds
responsibility for all aspects of enrollment and admissions including financial
aid and athletics. It is the responsibility of the Vice President for Enrollment
Management to keep the college President informed of matters of enrollment,
financial aid and athletics. Intercollegiate athletics including men's and
women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, baseball, softball, men's &
women's cross country, men's & women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, men's
and women's golf, women's volleyball, and sports information are available on an
intercollegiate basis.
Administration
The Vice
President for Administration, Larry Wallace, has responsibilities for
supervision of the following functions: Human Resources, Public Relations,
Communications & Marketing, College Editor and Web Coordinator, Facilities Management, EPA Compliance,
OSHA Compliance, special projects, and governmental relations. The
Administration Division provides support services to all departments of the
College intended to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the students,
faculty, and staff of the College while continuing to uphold standards of
excellence consistent with Tennessee Wesleyan College tradition.
Finance
The Vice President for
Financial and Business Affairs, Marty Chambers, maintains a permanent record of
the financial transactions of the College that are audited annually and reported
to the President and the Board. The Vice President for Financial and Business
Affairs regularly apprises the President of the financial status of the College
and performs such other functions on behalf of the College as the President may
designate. The Vice President for Financial and Business Affairs supervises the
Business Office and also prepares financial statements that are mailed to each
Board member at least ten (10) days before the Board’s regularly-scheduled
meetings. |
